Faith Formation for Children, Grades K-8
For St. Lawrence, St. Mary’s, and St. Teresa, 2022-23
The parishes of St. Lawrence, St. Mary’s, and St. Teresa support three primary options to support and assist parents to raise their children in the practice of the faith:
1. St. Lawrence Catholic School Education. Catholic school families are not expected to enroll their children in parish religious education classes due to the faith formation taking place in the school. However, please note that these families are expected to take part in the parish sacramental preparation for First Reconciliation and First Communion and Confirmation (2nd and 9th grade). Please contact the school or check out their website for more information: https://www.stlschool.com/
Note – Preschool is offered at both St. Lawrence and St. Mary's. For St. Lawrence School- https://www.stlschool.com
For St. Mary's - Preschool Information - St. Mary's School and Preschool - Aurora, IN (mystmarys.com)
2. Parish Religious Education Programming. For those parents who do not have their children enrolled at a Catholic School or who are homeschooling their children without a faith-based curriculum, there will be two opportunities for Parish Religious Education for K-8th grade for St. Teresa, St. Mary’s and St Lawrence Parishioners:
~Wednesday Evening Traditional Religious Education at St. Mary’s. 6:30pm-8:00pm, weekly grade-specific classes for grades K-8.
~Family Formation at St. Teresa. Twice monthly gatherings that include participation of parents and children, meeting 1 Sunday morning and 1 Wednesday evening each month for grades PreK-5, plus middle school classes for grades 6-8
Please contact kimsprague@dccatholics.com for more information or to enroll your child in our Parish Religious Education Programming.
3. Homeschool. More and more families are choosing the option of homeschooling and have a solid faith component in place within their homeschool curriculum. Families who choose to homeschool using a solid faith-based program, like Catholic School families, are not expected to enroll their children in parish religious education classes; they are expected to take part in the parish sacramental preparation for First Reconciliation and First Communion and Confirmation (2nd and 9th grade).
Confirmation Preparation – Weekly Wednesday Evening Classes 6:30-8:00pm for High School Teens seeking to be confirmed.
